Egypt builds anchorage to tighten Gaza siege

The Egyptian government is building a dock at the Rafah border in an attempt to tighten up and make the blockade on Gaza stricter. "The new anchorage will enhance the work of the Egyptian patrol boats on the sea border with Gaza and prevent any attempts of smuggling by sea," a security source in North Sinai told Reuters on Thursday.

International community has failed Gaza: Aid groups

The international community has betrayed the people of Gaza by failing to end an Israeli blockade to allow the territory to be rebuilt, a group of 16 rights groups said in a report on Tuesday. The report argued that Israel was in violation of international humanitarian law by enforcing a "collective punishment" with an indiscriminate blockade on Gaza – punishing all for the acts of a few.

Future unknown for Hamas

Ibrahim Alyan, 59, had good reason to be happy at the end of last week. At last, his daughter Riham had found a full-time job as a teacher at one of the schools in Central Gaza. Riham was one of 5,400 new graduates that Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh decided to hire for the second semester of the current school year.
