Objective:
The Malaysian Social Research Institute (MSRI)
is organizing a series of seminars during 2010
with the purpose of creating an open space of
discussion about different relevant and current
topics important for Malaysian society.
The theme of the first seminar is “Common Good –
Past, Present and Future.”
The purpose of this seminar is to have a better
idea of what it has been, what it is, and what
it will be The Common Good in Malaysia. Thus,
the goal is:
- To have a better idea of The Common Good in
the past, taking into consideration
the historical, political, religious, and racial
context of Malaysia.
- To understand the meaning of The Common Good
in the present time, and the
implications of “The Common Good” in the
Malaysian context.
- To visualize The Common Good in the future.
More specifically how Malaysia can
move towards a “Common Good” in the future, and
if there can be a recognition
and commitment to a “Common Good” in the
Malaysian context. Also, it will be
interesting to speak about the idea of a
universal or global common good.
