The Malaysian Social Research Institute (MSRI) is pleased to announce the second Refugee Workshop. This year, the workshop "Working Together to Support Refugees" is being organized with the purpose of continuing with involving different organizations in addressing refugee issues in Malaysia, with a special focus on refugees from small, scattered communities. |

involving NGOs in addressing refugee issues in Malaysia,
with a special focus on non-southeast Asian refugees
(Non-SEA-Refugees). |

Petition! Civil Rights for Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon

|
There is a unique opportunity now for the Palestinian refugees
in Lebanon to
get some basic civil rights, such as access to education and
health care.
This initiative in no way is impeding their Right of Return. To
have such
civil rights will give the ca. 400,000 Palestinians in Lebanon,
particularly
the children in the camps who are 4th generation refugees a bit
of hope for
a better future. |

Every year,
on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian
People on 29th November, we take the opportunity to
create awareness about the issues surrounding the Palestinian
deprivation and suffering, their continued struggle for a
homeland, and the current situation unfolding in West Bank and
Gaza. |

Our trip to Lebanon was part of
our elective posting.
The elective posting
is a Year 4 Medical Programme requirement. This posting is only
undertaken by 4th year medical students who have
passed all their major postings in year 3 and year 4.
