Kassim Aina, Director of the National Institution of
Social Care and Vocational Training or more popularly
known as Beit Atfal as-Samoud (BAS) came for a short
visit to MSRI from 6 -11 August 2007. Though short, his
visit was very productive in garnering support and
financial aid for the refugees in Lebanon. His
insightful first-hand experience on the situation at
Nahr el-Bared was instrumental in getting the urgent
help needed to alleviate the mounting problem faced by
the people and relief workers in Beddawi. At the time, Nahr el-Bared Camp was still under siege.
He was also able to meet with the Ambassador of the
State of Palestine to Malaysia, Mr. Abdelaziz Aboughosh
at his office and attended an informal meeting with the
representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
regarding our sponsorship programme.
